On Sunday 9th December 2018 North Warwickshire Community First Responders attended the Georgie’s Gift Christmas Market at Ambleside Sports Club in Nuneaton to what we thought was to provide First Aid cover for the event. Our Coordinator Samantha Hall got the shock of her life when she was presented with two cheques for our charity.
The first donation came from Georgie’s Gift which was set up after the very sad loss of Georgie Hall who was only 23 months old when she passed away in February 2015 after being diagnosed with Meningitis and Septicaemia. Georgie’s parents Matt and Paula realised how little they knew of the disease and by setting up Georgie’s Gift, their aim was to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of the disease as well as advising families to get the correct vaccinations.
At the event Sam was presented with a cheque for £5000 by Matt and Paula saying “Today we made a donation to the North Warwickshire Community First Responders who have not only volunteered their time to provide First Aid cover at a number of our events now but also generally muck in and help at our events. A great support to the charity and fully deserving of this £5k donation. They are heavily reliant on donations like this and I think the photo’s show how much it meant”.
Samantha said “Today we have had an early Christmas present thank to Georgie’s gift. They have made a massive donation to our group and we couldn’t be more grateful thank you so much to Matt and Paula. This will help to ensure that we can continue to help the community in providing first aid cover at events and the vital work we do for the ambulance service for the people of Nuneaton and surrounding areas”.
