Today is restart a heart day. Usually our volunteers would be out in the community today teaching a variety of people from school children to adults on how to perform CPR but because of CoVID we are unable to do that this year.
West Midlands Ambulance Service have produced to videos to show you how to perform CPR effectively and also how to use an AED.
Cardiac Arrest can occur any time and in any place. If someone collapses and stops breathing you need to act fast so the person has the best chance of survival.
The image above called The Chain of Survival shows the steps that need to be taken should a cardiac arrest occur. Early recognition and calling for help, dial 999 and effective CPR and early defibrillation can save a life.
Don’t be afraid to call 999, the call handler at the Ambulance service will guide you on what to do.
AED’s (Automated External Defibrillators) are in the community, in locked cabinets on the side of walls or in telephone boxes in our area. You can see where they are by clicking here for North Warwickshire.
